Ka is the seed syllable of Jizō Bosatsu (Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva), who serves as the patron of gamblers, lost causes, travlers, and the dead--especially children. Jizō is the bodhisattva of the underworld, determined to deliver all beings from the suffering of hell. This piece contains 108 Jizō seed syllables, as each written image is said to carry great merit capable of saving innumerable beings.
