The Siddham syllables "Kan" and "Man" are used as the symbol for the popular Buddhist deity Fudō Myōō, who, with his rope and sword, represents the fierce energy needed to bind and cut off greed, hatred, and ignorance. Here, the traditional block-style calligraphy has been customized through the addition of flowing elements that heighten the energy of the syllables. The found plastic packaging that covers the calligraphy serves to portray the deity as a consumable object and re-casts the sacred syllables in the context of customer service.
